I've noticed this only happens past 2300 RPM, and seems to keep going afterwards. The sound is blatantly obvious with the hood up revving in park, but you can't hear it while driving very well- if at all.

Ideas? I haven't caught it until now.

Here's a video:

I reach ~2300 RPM at around 0:36 the second time, you can clearly hear the difference between normal revving and afterwards.

2001 Ford Focus SE, 2.0 L SPI/CVH engine, ~87000 miles. Automatic transmission.

I'll check if it's still making the noise while cooled down soon.

Seem to still be making the noise at that same RPM. Could it possibly be because I'm in park? Any ideas? I can't even hear it while driving.

It could be a bad water pump or a bad bearing in any of the belt driven components. You'll have to isolate down the noise.

I'll check the water pump over night with paper towels under the car- i haven't noticed any leaks on the ground yet.

I checked around my car to see if I could find anything else out of place and noticed a little rattling noise that was coming from somewhere in my engine near the side closest to the windshield. Not sure what it is, could this be connected?

There's no leaks, didn't get any drops at all on the paper towels. I looked around the car a bit further and checked the oil- it turns out there's a slurping noise coming from it! When I pulled out the dipstick I noticed it immediately.

I got video of the slurping noise as well as the ticking/rattling right here:

The video's a bit dark- if you can't tell, I start pulling out the dipstick at around 0:10

I also pushed the gas a bit afterwards and noticed the grinding noise, but it set in earlier in RPMs than the other day- around 1400.

If it matters, I'd been driving it around for a while beforehand.

I don't know where your coming up with these crazy tests but you just wasting your time. Your complaint is a noise, not a leak so I don't know what your expecting to prove with your paper towel trick.

Take the car to the shop where somebody with experience can tell you what's wrong with it.

I'm looking around so I can isolate the problem and try to fix it myself.

Does the oil slurping not show anything? Seems like it should.
