1999 Chevy Blazer Sign In

I own a 1999 Chevy Blazer with approx. 57k miles on it. I have been noticing some noises coming from different areas of the car and was wondering if any one could help me in determining what they are and how to fix them

1. While driving, when I go over a bump in the road, big or small I hear a "gulping" or "thumping" noise that sounds like it is coming from the tire area in both the front and the rear. It generally happens at any speed, but it is more noticeable and lower speeds.
2. When I accelerate from a stop, I sometimes hear what sounds like a grinding/thumping noise which is accompanied by a slight vibration that I can feel on the floorboard. Also when I accelerate I hear a noise coming from under the hood/through the dashboard by the windshield that sounds like you are blowing through a straw into a glass of water.
3. Finally, and slight bump in the road or pothole will cause the back tailgate to rattle. I don't know if there is something loose back there, I tried spraying WD-40 on the hinges on both the window and the acutal gate, but it does not work. Is there anything that can be done for this?

Thank you

Re: 1999 Chevy Blazer Sign In

I had a whole response done earlier and the power went out an message was lostFrown

Smile I'll try again....

1. The undercarriage noises might be bad shocks, rubbler bushings or broken stabilzer pins. Should all be checked.

2. The vibration - could be a bad U-joint - the shaft to the back may have to be taken off to full check them.

3. The bubbling sound in dash could be air rushing thru the heater core. Check that system is full at radiator not just the recovery tank. If low find out why.

4. The tail gate noise, push on the gate and see it it's tight and any glass the moves. These can be snugged up to stop the noise if that's it.

Hope that's of some help to get you started,
