I have a strange noise that no one seems to be able to pinpoint. I first noticed this after I had my transmission rebuilt. Initially it would only make a faint rattling noise when I would turn hard right and accelerate.
Unfortunately about a month ago I ran over a rather large chunk of road debris (tire re-tread) and then noise has gotten even worse. It now makes a loud rattling/grinding type noise either turning right or going straight, but only during acceleration, I let off the gas and it goes away. Turning left and accelerating does not make any noise whatsoever.
From inside of the car it sounds like it is really close, like the middle near the firewall, maybe even closer, near or around the shifter. At times I can actually feel the vibration through the floor, but not through the shifter. I have had both left & right CV joints replaced, clutch was replaced when the transmission was rebuilt about a year and a half ago.
I was able to get under the car yesterday, started it up, put it in gear... but no noise. Turned it hard right, gave it gas, nothing. So right now i'm at a loss to what it could be. Any insight on what it might be would be appreciated.

Hmmm? Noise only under load or steering smacks of a CV joint or wheel bearing. I know you said you replaced the joints which were probably rebuilts and some will re-use a good joint and put on new boots. There is a failure rate for even new bearings and joints,
