I have a 1987 Chevy Caprice. The Major problem with the car is the hesitation. I start the car, run it to the end of the street about a 1/4 mile. At the intersection, the when I make the turn the car either slows to a crawl to make the turn, or the engine shuts of completely. After running it for a few miles the problem stops, but the acceleration is still at a snails pace. The check engine light is on. I found a disconnected hose, I'm assuming to the carburetor/air filter, when I connected it the car over heats, so I have it disconnected. My gut tells me something is wrong with the carburetor or intake, but I know nothing about engines. Also I tried to replace the power steering hose I hack sawed off the hose to try and get a socket around the bolt, it still ain't budging. So i have no power steering, which i can live with for now, but I want to find out whats up with the engine. Engine View Hose not connected, connector in background Bolt for steering, won't budge

That's a breather hose just to push back on. It just picks up filtered (see plastic wool inside) air for PCV which isn't apparently working properly as there shouldn't be oil there. Blow by is excessive or PCV needs to be right. That is NOT causing overheating which seriously needs to be attended to. At least make sure it's full of antifreeze mix now. If an unsludged engine and a keeper just do ALL the hoses you can find. Gotta cut them carefully with an exacto type knife and peel them off so you don't bust the plastic fitting which I've never been able to glue back and it should have them all and working. When was oil changed? Are you finding it thin or smelling of fuel? Carbs need cleaning and good pull off diaphragms so check all and that choke does in fact shut off fully - many don't or should say didn't so well and we'll get to that if needed. IDK what you want with the bolt near PS? Leave that alone till you get this running well why mess with that? Make sure it's full as well and if no power assist find a good bone yard as you may need a new box and pump if any just came in running a good bet if not all oily and leaking. Whatever that bolt is if on the hose it's probably for hydro-boost something you don't have not a thing to replace a hose. If you know it's leaking now fine but if it ran dry too long it killed the pump already if too long - see above note on that..... If sound this engine is a long life motor both miles and time. If you sludge up any or overheat badly enough it's game over for any of them, T

"Quadrajunks" Too funny DS - Also called Quadrabogs. No carb was ever so well designed and so poorly put together new! Countless brand new ones needed hours to adjust up then if you took any care of them were perfect. None any good in the 1980s IMO. Now don't tolerate ethanol so are screwed out of the gate. More engines croaked (ones I knew) from the dang choke flooding the crap out of it so well oil went bad along with engine. Breather blown off this one suggests this is trouble to me, T
