08 Toyota Matrix ticking noise when engine shut off	Sign In

My car is 2008 Toyota matrix. I just bought it in April 2008. It is only 1000 miles right now. The ticking sound always comes out and stays for about 1 minute when I turn off the engine.

This car should still be under full warranty - no? If so messing with things yourself will cause issues with warranty,

Might be hearing the exhaust system cooling down making a noise?

CH, I was thinking it might be normal metal of exhaust like heat shields or more normally cooling down but as said if under full warranty and this will make the noise readily then I would have the dealer or a professional ear say so just in case it should recorded that there was a noise with so low a miles.

All my own will make some ticking of heat - mostly if it worked hard right before and I pay no attention as I know what it is.

Another item that can make noise is A/C boiling off what's left of any liquid refrigerant but that's more of a boiling sound or hissing and normal also. BTW - to original poster - the A/C in most everything is designed to click on when defog/defrost is requested so it may not be that it's been purposely in use but was on which is still normal. Would be nice to know with such a new car,

T, by all means it should be looked at by her dealer. It's still a brand new car. I was trying to instill a sense of confidence that it did'nt sound like it was a major prob.
