I drive the interstate to work and can hear it when I turn the radio down. I just put new brakes on front and rear, noise was before and after brake job. I think the noise may be wheel bearings. I can do brakes and things like that but I don't think the wheel bearings in this 04 pontiac are easy like the ones in my 76 olds 442................if it is wheel bearings are they hard to change?...thanks....john Jeff Norfolk Enthusiast Oct 13, 2008, 5:14 PM Post #2 of 3 (1691 views) Re: 04 gran prix front wheel noise..not brakes Sign In Not terribly hard but much harder than the older cars. This is an assembly i believe which unbolts from the sterring knuckle after all the brake hardware is removed. These are no like the packable inner/outer ones you are thinking about. You don't adjust or grease these - just replace the whole unit. If yours looks like this it's fairly straight forward to replace. The larger (30mm??) shaft nut is tons easier with air tools.....
