Car steering shakes when using breaks Sign In

-2005 grand am Pontiac

2 months ago my front drivers side wheel came off while I was driving. There was no body damage but I skidded into mud and the threads where the wheel attaches were trashed. So I had a mechanic replace the part that has the threads that holds the tire on, I think its called a hub but i honestly have no idea. So It drives fine now but I noticed that it was acting weird when I took it on the highway. When I slow down you can feel the breaks in the steering wheel. The steering wheel rattles back and forth a little when I use the breaks. It feels as if all the breaks are working except the one that had the wheel problem in the past but I have no idea.

I was wondering if maybe it was just dirt stuck in the breaks still or if something is just really messed up. Also Im very paranoid about the wheel flying off again while I drive. Is there a possibility this will happen again?

I hope I never know of leaving a wheel loose. You must have bent or damaged the brake rotor and only a new set (set both sides done equally) is the fix.

What ever situation left you with a loose wheel needs to be addressed. Mistakes happen, that one needs full attention,

thank you so much for your help!!! The reason the wheel came off was fixed but I will get the rotors and breaks looked at and replaced.
