Ever since I got this T&C Minivan I have had brake problems. From the factory the right front caliper had never operated. I fixed that easily. At that time I upgraded to drilled and slotted front rotors and and ceramic pads and got good results. However after just a few thousand miles the rotor faces developed a build up of material and had to be chipped off. I thought it was the ceramic pad material so I switched back to OEM pads and got the same build up. Should I plug the drilled holes? I changed rotor suppliers and now am considering the drilled holes and slots are my problem somehow. Pumping brake dust back onto the rotor faces.

I'm not seeing a lot of problems with good OE designs and materials and would stick with that for a minivan. All that venting for a rotor isn't my thing for keeping them cooler/lighter for reasons of performace not life.

First set of "ceramics" did as claimed - no dust, no noise but didn't last worth a damn in one case - my own as long retired.

I favor by brand "Centric" rotors as they are so nicely finished and baked painted on non friction surfaces is helpful in areas where rust is an issue and is for myself. More bucks of course but quality is.

Whatever was wrong with a caliper now back when doesn't seem like part of any issue.

In short - go quality OE grade parts and things should be fine,

I agree with Tom. No benefit to slotted rotors on a minivan
