Does anyone have specific advice on the best way to remove a door skin that must be reused? The design is such that these doors rust badly where the skin and frame come together in one corner. The clearance between them is so small, there'd be no way to weld in new metal on the skin without also welding to the frame. So, the plan is to glassblast the door frame, and make repairs to the door skin after they are separated. Each will get an epoxy primer finish prior to being welded back together. After welding, cavity wax will be applied. Thanks

No, there is no way to re-use the skin. The removal process just destroys the skin so it cannot be reattached. You have to grind off the retaining lip to remove it. You haven't posted the make and model so we always assume it's a Maserati. I would think a used door would be a much simpler solution. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
