Attaching Door Rod to Handle and Latch Sign In

I have a 2013 Toyota Highlander, and my passenger side door does not work from the outside, but it does work on the inside. When taking the door apart I noticed that the metal rod attaching the door handle to the latch had come off. I have tried to do this my just feeling around but I cannot figure out where the rod attaches into each piece. I have been looking for a diagram for this but I cannot find one. I do not want to take it to e mechanic because it seems like a pretty easy fix, and save the $200 that they would charge.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

That rod doesn't attach to the outside handle itself. It attaches to a sub assembly.

I really doubt is just fell off. They are usually locked on pretty secure. It most likely broke off the arm it was attached to and that part will have to be replaced.
