94 gmc sierra serpentine belt Sign In

I have a 94 gmc sierra with a 5.0 V8 a/c no air pump , I replaced the tensioner pulley and the belt had a wear line from running on the bad pulley , the parts guy said would you like a belt for no a/c in case that decides to seize , I said o.k. it don't work anyways . but I couldn't figure how it would go on , I looked on line with no luck , is there a site that has the diagrams ? I noticed on mine the tensioner is bolted to the a/c , is it mounted different without the compressor ?

Yes there is but why do that? Unplug the compressor so it can't come on and tie it with wire tie out of harm's way. Now count the grooves in the belt there listed 3 choices and it can't be wrong.
The proper tension of the belt totally depends on proper routing as if it never had A/C from new. The pulley for compressor is just a bearing for all practical purposes when compressor isn't engaged. If you don't put a dummy compressor bracket and pulley in where it was us it the way it is.

Even that bearing can be replaced if you have a clutch puller or borrow one if it went bad. There's no telling (by me) without looking right at it if it really can just do with a belt for non A/C engine or not and some really can but I wouldn't if bearing is good get the right belt and count the grooves or instant failure,

O.K. thanks , I'll keep it original , it spins freely , I used to scrap the a/c compressors for a core charge and if they didn't spin the guy didn't want them , but mine never gets used and after 23 years if it hasn't seized yet it probably never will , I hit it with penetrating fluid now and then also . I found out that pulley bolt has a left hand thread without ruining it so it's a good day .

The compressor is different bearing than just the clutch is sealed and just it's own bearing. Compressor just hold it there as a pulley. Stuff matters as it's made for having a compressor and just look at the % of belt contact for other things with it there vs what MIGHT be on this exactly without it might work but not quite as well as the original idea. Some can't work at all the real point.

Whatever you get for cores just can't be worth it IMO only some can work just fine some don't or stress out other components vs the design if it never had A/C to begin with be all different,
