Exploding Shock Cylinders Sign In

Hello,
I recently received some shocks, and was removing the packaging banding that holds the cylinder down, and the shock exploded (gas and oil jettisoned out of the cylinder). Is there anyway that this occurred to my fault from simple compression of the shock? I actually accepted a replacement for the shock, and this occurred again, so twice total. People I have asked said they have never heard of this before. but I just want to confirm before pressing this further with the organization selling me the shocks. (they are discount)

That's definitely not your fault. Sounds like they had a run on defective struts.

That strapping is just to compress the size for packaging.

Same just add if that type thing happens to one, send both back and buy another brand totally they had missed a step by human or machine whole batch is NG so find another source. Brick and mortar great parts are slow or gone would catch that the on-line will just unload them is has with me hoping you wont send them back or jump hoops for a refund! Nice,
T
