Hello. Im replacing my steering rack bellow on my 2002 Subaru legacy. I can't seem to fit the bellow over notch to set it in place on the steering gear. due to how tight it is. Any tips on how to get the bellow on?

What is it that it won't fit over? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Put some soap in the lip of the boot. Then push it against the ridge of the rack. Take something flat, like a butter knife with no cutting edge, and stretch the boot over the rack tube. It's a pain, but it should eventually get around it. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

It will make things a lot easier if you crank the steering wheel all the way to the opposite side to shorten the tie rod.
