Hi,
I have a 3 1/2 year old Dacia Sandero Stepway 2, 1.5cc Diesel, and driven 70000km. Guarantee expired after 3 years.
I'm no car expert at all :/. Fairly recently I began to hear something resonating as I feather the clutch pedal. In neutral there is already a rattle which seems to become louder but then disappears when the pedal is fully depressed. The internet is full of clutch noise explanations but none really tell you what the sound is like. I already have an appointment to diagnose the problem for 75Euros at Renault but your opinions will be greatly appreciated before I spend unnecessarily several hundred on a more trivial problem.
Is it the throw-out bearing, a misaligned disk, pilot-bearings, the hydraulic system or just some loose connection ?
I need to know if this noise needs urgent attention to prevent a catastrophic failure.
Any comments greatly appreciated.

Your link does not work.
Diagnosing a noise over the internet is next to impossible anyway. On top of that, this is a vehicle that is not sold here in the US where this site is based so we have no info on the vehicle at all.
If the noise goes away when the clutch is fully depressed, that would steer away from a throw out bearing. It would tend to point to something inside the trans because you are stopping all motion into the trans at that point.

Plenty of room for misunderstanding this. This thing isn't sold to US where site is based alone shouldn't matter for any know way to make a standard shift clutch for a motor vehicle.
Noise "goes away" when depressed - right? That's when the throw-out bearing is doing all the work the other parts are "static" mostly and not in use so says it's NOT the problem.
That's low miles/Kms to me for problems with a manual transmission's clutch for ordinary wear outs are not ordinary for those who really know how to drive them they last indefinitely. Few do is a problem.
There's probably something broken by trauma of some sort or misuse of this? I can't know so the diagnosis is in order that you already set up is worth that.

I'm done if you're still here what did you mean by "feathering" the clutch? If you are trying to shift way too smoothly that causes ordinary wear to increase alone "wearing out" doesn't make noise the vehicle quits moving (quietly) when engaged if ignored,

Sorry, I didn't know I was in an US forum.
Yes, it could be a trauma issue. I remember that the right front wheel entered a pot hole covered in water a few weeks ago. Maybe that chattered the bearings.
If you look at the video, you can see that I only barely move the pedal. That's what I meant by feathering.

Judging by the way that is reacting, it does sound like a TO bearing.

I copied that link and it didn't work. Outside US I don't know if restricted or what on that?
To this noise again: Yes just touching clutch may change load on it and engine/transmission some call a gearbox and touch something now it didn't?? Would now that we know had some trauma look there and see if that's a reason then what to do to fix it.
Back the mention of "pilot bushings" I'll name it that as used around me. Most stay the life of a vehicle just if or when transmissions are separated from engines you put a little grease in there. The front shaft of trans. is centered by that is the end/side for transverse set ups of the crankshaft. If you are running and trans main shaft isn't in neutral and other times is an acting bearing. Since all time only a few are problems a squeal if dry or if somehow all busted up the front shaft goes nuts in too large of a hole to center it no telling how it would behave or wild noises it could make.
If you know it's not been apart forget that especially now trauma happened more likely now that a real clutch issue just brought on by the moving assembly.
Diagnosis if you don't plain see bent or broken things from the incident is in order already said. Hope it's just simple and easy to fix for your sake,

PS note: All geared type manual transmissions (clutch and shift types) share a lot in common if not some automatic in disguise to use manually?

Mr. Hammer? The noise goes away when throw-out bearing is working? Was said when pedal was pushed I take that as Disengaging by that bearing then spinning - what did I miss? Tom

What you missed is watching the video.
Light pressure on the TO bearing brings out the noise. It diminishes with heavy pressure and disappears with no touch on the pedal.

Thanks, I hope to have the problem diagnosed by Renault on the 8th. I will mention the incident with the pothole.
As for the problem with the public video, I'm really baffled.
Perhaps a policy to discourage others from posting videos.

Thanks. Meant no harm YOU (HT) saw it, I didn't. Light pressure - now it's clear.
Other > Computer service cutting in and out all day isn't helping that last flipping storm messed things up we haven't found yet no question,
