Broken dipstick 2016 Ford F-150 eco boost Sign In

My dipstick was stuck and I pulled it too hard. The handle broke offFrown
I’ve tried a few methods and wound up pushing it back another inch or so… it’s now leaking oil and I got a wadded up paper towel keeping the oil in lolSly.
It looks like I need to remove the valve cover and go from there. Any advice? Apparently, this is pretty common for my make and model according to a quick Google search.
Thanks in advance.

IDK as I found a couple "Ecoboost" engines for this but check at even an Autozone (or similar type of place) for a whole dipstick and tube to replace it. Others too NAPA or even the dealership.

Not sure where you tried to plug this up top or what you did but this is high risk now to lose oil enough to cause some real damage beyond just this!

Web is full of BS what's common or not don't believe everything you see or hear busted off dipsticks also can/will cause other problems if just leaving one out so get right on this for a real fix and need to change oil IMO to know the thing reads properly! OMG you fill 1 qt low run and check (mark or verify spot) then add the qt to full and mark that.

No joke it's GOT TO BE RIGHT at the risk of a whole engine if it leaks out,

Tom

Thanks you’re definitely right about that. It really needs to be fixed. I think I have to takeoff the left hand valve cover and somehow remove it from the top as opposed to the oil pan. A full replacement is definitely an order and I’m changing the oil right now to know that I have a proper amount of oil. I’ve got a wadded up paper towel and there’s no more oil leaking at the moment.

Seal it for sure if using it at all. Search out whole dipsticks I fell on the ZONE had them but need to know exact engine and maybe VIN for options?

Been ages for one most a friction fit IDK but looking at correct new one you would! Tom

What is the specific engine size? It's either 2.7 or 3.5

If you don't know there is an emissions sticker that will tell you on the hood or the radiator support.
