I'm replacing 1992 f-150 4x4 302 a/c 4-speed w/od efi, with 1988 f-150 inline 6,rwd, no a/c,granny 4-speed,efi,engine. Also I'm using all harnesses,fuse box,computer,ect. Will I run into any major problems, went I go to turn key to start? (address removed) [:)]

If you have both whole vehicles there's a good chance but seems to me like way too much vs selling off one for the correct engine you want/need.

V8, I-6, Auto, Std shift, 4X4 and just RWD? That's a lot of things different without just electrical everything. Maybe but kinda doubt entire frame is ready for those different model years either,

Problems isn't the word for it. You can't simply drop that in there. You're entire operating system is different.

Often overlooked - the vehicle needs to comply with 1992 (302) emissions

Yes, I didn't even mention that it would be illegal to do and drive on US highways.

Kinda of strange that someone would drop an inline 6 in for a hole that fits a 5.0L. I'd rather have the 5.0L myself.

Ditto: Razor - this would be tons easier and no doubt cheaper to just get the right engine. If you already have another as read between the lines trade for the right one plus or minus and save all the grief. Truck parts seem more available than for cars when old like this. Two issues - beat to death from working them or cared for like crazy an unworked but something else happened like accidents, rust beyond reasonable repair and great engines still. Should be fairly reasonable costs just time spent knowing what you are getting as best you can in person if at all possible with one running,

I think the reason these ideas emerge is - misunderstanding about computer controlled vehicles -

rather than learning and getting equipped it is easier to return to your comfort zone- carburetors and points...

Whole vehicle near me, 1992 4X4 5.0 Auto runs well. $800 OBO. In use but needs lots of dinky stuff so just take the engine and sell off the rest. Right now rest as plain junk locally can get ~$350 for the metal alone. Where's the beef? That's just drop it in with best from either and dump the rest almost free except time if it really is worth a dang. That's my point,
