83 Ford F150 4.9 manual locking hubs 4x4-Right front hub will not engage. Checked many posts and other forums and have not come up an answer. Have done this-Manual locks have audible clicks when moved from free to locked postions - jacked up - axle moves in free position, in locked will not move -all four wheels off ground hubs locked in 4 wheel hi right front hub shudders and moves slowly - can stop wheel by holding it. According to everything I have read these tests indicates the hub is locked. Anybody with 4x4 expertise that can tell me where to look next. Have not opened up yet, but not even sure what to look for. Truck has only 90,000 miles on it and front brakes were replaced and wheel bearings repacked about 20,000 miles ago and hub worked fine until this winter. Truck is spare vehicle and not driven much. Frown

Try holding one front wheel at a time with truck idleing all wheels off ground . when you stop RF wheel all power should go to LF . Hold LF power goes RF . It may take third person to verify power is going firmly to opposite wheel , Try to stop it . Depending on results could be broke shaft .
