2002
GMC Sierra 1500 Z71
new jasper 5.3L motor 628 miles
Rebuilt transmission 3,500 miles

while driving today a bad vibration was felt then the front u-joint broke at the yoke, both caps sheared off. while changing both universal joints i notice the slip yoke would not pull out of the transmission and now the when i am trying to bolt the drive shaft back to the rear differential it is not long enought to reach.

All you can do is use liberal amounts of penetrating oil and while helper holds down shaft wack
the hell out of it. Use a wood block to prevent damage .

Was it in 4wd when the universals went? Someone probably didn't install the propeller shaft correctly when they did the engine job.
