Hi, I have a 800 polaris rzr. It was just recently been flipped while turning to fast in it. It flipped and landed upside down and was left idling while checking on everyones safety. I turned it off about 30 sec while upside down and noticed engine oil leaking out of the compartment under the seats. I have taken cover off and sprayed it down to remove the oil from the engine and topped the engine with oil. I removed the air filter and it had a bunch of oil in the air filter compartment, wiped it out and changed the filter but it is still smoking out of the tail pipe. is there more damaged that I dont see. has there been any harm done with it having oil in the air filter breather? thanks for the help.

You got some oil in the cylinder when it was upside down. It got pushed into the exhaust. Pull off your pipe and clean it out with degreaser and hot water. I hope the engine wasn't damaged when it ran upside down, as the oil pump sump wasn't able to suck up oil in that position. You might've gotten lucky. Do a compression test. If it passes that and you have cleaned out the pipe as well as possible just run it a bit and see if the smoke goes away after a bit. You need to get good heat in the exhaust for a bit to burn any of the residue left out of there. As far as oil in the air filter, I doubt you did any damage. Probably just oiled up your upper cylinder heavily. Most of these machines use an oil-impregnated foam filter element anyway. A lot of quads have the engine breather hooked into the air filter setup so it drained into there when it was flipped. Glad to hear everyone is ok.
