The oil pressure gauge or light is not meant to be an oil volume or condition indicator but like it’s name oil pressure indicator.
Yes if the engine is very low on oil or the oil is contaminated the gauge will show low pressure but that’s because there’s no oil or the oil there is so thin that the pump cannot build pressure.
Check the level or if you think it might be contaminated change the oil; if the problem persists, then have the oil pressure gauge tested for accuracy.
It maybe something as simple as a defective oil pressure sending unit on the engine or something a little more serious as worn engine bearings or a weak pump.

Not to fool with!! Red lights or warnings mean biz. Keep extra oil in your car and pay attention. I can wait for a new mooring for my yacht! T
