drivers door won't open

I have a 2001 acura mdx. The drivers door won't open. I have tried lock/unlock door but that does not open. I have tried to take the door panel off but am afraid I will damage the panel. Please does anyone know how to open it without damaging the door or panel?

You can try fishing around from the top of door with a wire hanger . If You did get lucky and snagged the proper rod you still are looking at repairing the original problem. I really think you would be ahead of the game and let a shop do this . Theres a lot of small moving parts and not a lot of room.
