My son recently moved to Jacksonville, FL and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a car repair shop. We have a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am that needs struts/shocks on the back.

I grew up in Jax. But it has become a big city with hundreds of excellent shops and I'm sure a few i would not take a lawnmower to. Look for shops that are in good standing with the BBB. That employ certified techs. I personally feel that a shop that is clean well lit has fairly up to date equipment is a reflection of thier work habits. Be sure the shop explains the work to be done and recourse if there is a problem (unexpected labor i.e. broken bolt) and gives a written work order.

May I suggest a proprietorship with a name on the place or door? ASE is NOT everything. Plenty of qualified techs don't have that. With whatever it is, just play fair. Most really do IMO,

(yes -I've known techs that shouldn't be working on shopping carts!)
