How much is my car or converter worth Sign In

I have a 2004 Honda accord that won't start. Pretty sure it's the alternator but I want rid of it in any case. Junkyard told me they would pay $300. I posted online to see if I could get more.

Some people are saying the Catalytic converters are worth alot & others are saying no. A guy online offered me $650 for the car another guy is telling me they are ripping me off & he wants me to take the Converter off, take a picture of the numbers & send it to him saying I can probably get $900 for those alone & said once I do that he'll pay me top dollar.

Should I do that? Can I sell the converter my self & make more if so where? Not sure what to do or what to take for this car

Thanks

2004 Honda Accord 2.4

Forget about the converter. You won't get those crazy prices for it.

You don't state anything about the mileage or condition so I can't tell you what it may be worth but I would expect the $650 offer to be on the low side of what it may be worth.

Well that's why I was asking...

You said they were crazy prices but said 650 is lowball? I'm confused sorry. Mileage around 150,000

The crazy price comment was referring to selling the converter alone.

? Converter alone? Market prices by the market for metals they have. Check with buyers.
Whole "Accord" with just 150k? How much is NOT worth it to you or is it unreal rusted? It's very popular should have lots a hard parts or if interior parts are VERY good by chance or care those worth $ you can't fake upholstery items well.
Get other quotes on the thing used cars in general are HOT right now so parts to make another good should be also.

Markets decide what it's worth even as total scrap,

I don't know anything about the value and condition of this particular car but I am a car dealer and I can tell you that used cars are bringing some outrageous prices right now and a Honda is at the top of the demand list. You also shouldn't be expecting overnight success. It may take a little time for the right person to see the ad. The guy that offered you the $600, he is cruising the for sale sites all the time and is planning on reselling it.

I think converters contain Platinum but not certain: BTW the 52 week range of if just checked has been low of ~$800 and high or ~$1,348 - that's USD as of 1:15pm today - spot on. You can look up value of raw metals to pure stuff.
Told you it's a market sold on NYSE and world wide.
I do know this, if you took it off a place would notice and deduct what they are getting.
I asked what the overall car was like you could make a buck parting it out yourself but bet it's in your way? It's ugly and taking up space? They'll come get it for that if not ASK - you'll get a little more.
If you out in the boonies you'll get less the salvage yard bear the costs to where they sell parts to,

The price of a used converter depends on size , type , and price of the
platinum that coats the ceramic honey comb inside . The people paying for a junk car take the cat into consideration and they may ask you if it is there ,, right now in N.Y.'s capital region I heard metal prices are high , I don't know about converter prices but I would estimate a dinky honda converter may get you close to $100** . Prices go up and down you have to call the recycler and find out what they are .. We used to get the best price from an independent , core charge , used parts for rebuild dealer .
