GM 3.4 L V6 overheating

2005 Buick Rendezvous, 3.4L V6, 140K miles. My Buick is overheating and I believe it's a bad head gasket. After doing a lot of research on the internet it appears that this is a long time problem with the GM 3.4L engine. I don't want to go thru a head job if I'm going to have the same problem again. So my question is: Do I replace the head gasket or trade/sell for whatever I can get out of it?

Yes, they are very susceptible to head gasket failures if they are overheated but if you don't overheat the engine, you shouldn't have any more problems. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
