So, the 2.5 in my wrangler is wore out, and has low compression. It runs phenomenal but just has no power. Now, i do not have the time or the resources to do a rebuild. I actually have to borrow a spot to do the swap. So my plan is to buy a remanufactured engine. And to buy it from napa, and their ironclad line by atk. Im curious on your guy’s opinion on this, and if you have another brand that you think is better or something else. And i do not want a junkyard engine. One because there are not many around where i live, but also because i just want a fresh brand new engine that i know the condition of that will make stock power and last a long time. Thank you for any imput!

Back up some with this. Why do you think it's "all worn out?" Low compression if true and even is more likely a valve timing problem than wear. Wear expresses itself as bluish oily exhaust, puffing out smoke out oil fill cap. Oily plugs, late oil pressure to show a normal on cold starts. You don't want a known good used is a paradox by it's age IDK how many newer are 100% compatible that are tested good. Not a fan of rebuilds is a patch job to whatever core they used NOT NEW AGAIN nor the expectations. Rock and hard place now at age and budget for this thing. I suggest unless you already are sure you think hard about fixing what you have. Lower end wear out it's gone and too much upper end is hard on lower end so a tough call should be carefully thought out IMO rebuilds stink but work, just don't expect life out of them like the first, T

I think you are just fine with a reman long block. I have installed many. ATK is a decent brand. Jasper is considered the cream of the crop and they come with a 3 year warranty but they also come with the highest price so I rarely used them for that reason. Just make sure you also replace all the pieces that go with that like thermostat, belts, hoses, radiator, plugs, wires, etc. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Yes, i know my engine is worn out. Im not stupid. It puffs out lots of smoke even when warmed up. You take of the oil cap and it shoots air out. The oil cap is frothy. It makes a massive tick, and sometimes even a knock from the valve train when running. So yes. I know my engine is worn out.

I did consider jasper, can you purchase one from one of the licensed installers? But yea, im glad you have experience with atk, cheaper than jasper but supposedly still good and I believe it. Thank you

Sorry if I discouraged redone, whole engines vs used it's just been what crossed my way. Much newer and some mishap like sudden oil leak - kaput so now what? I could take the time to find the vehicle it came out of how good it was in general before some mishap to be salvaged. Not one failed and lasted as long as I even knew of that vehicle is unusual. Another got serious redo of lower end and it failed 3 times left a bad taste and wasn't my job just heard all the troubles till good used was installed. In fairness they were popular vehicles (like this too) and a huge selection. You clearly care for this so wish you best of luck for a long life of the next. Sure is done as said ALL were strange mishaps to my understanding on very good vehicles otherwise worth it at all NONE were just worn out and I believe you those symptoms are enough, T

I understand where your coming from. And i have heard a lit of horror stories about catastrophic failure. But i plan to follow the provided break in procedure to a t. And even if something does happen, the engine comes with a 3 year warranty. And ironclad has an A+ on better business bureau, so i should be covered. I plan on getting a junk engine to use as a core so I always have mine as a spare. And when i have time. I do plan on rebuilding it
