Greetings all, my brother blew the engine on his 2000 Mercury Sable (3.0 V6 24valve DOHC). I found an engine in a local junkyard (67k) for 500, but it only comes with a 30 day warranty. Is it worth it to go 60-70 miles and pay another 100 to get one with a 90 day warranty, or is there no difference between the two warranties (if it works it works)? Any advice, thanks.....

Much depends on how good the salvage place is at determining condition of the engine. History if available, miles etc. It very well could be worth it for the warranty. Generally is good it's good but 30 days may not show all flaws if any. Lots depends on the skills of the tech(S) doing the swap. Go for exact engine!

The wrong one can cause a real bad hair day!

Make sure you realize that either warranty usually will not include the labor to change the motor should it fail and they could replace it with one just as bad. All junkyard warranties will usually get you is more junk.
