1964 ford thunderbird - is it worth restoring Sign In

I have a 1964 ford thunderbird that I am wondering if it would be worth restoring. Body is fair - I believe most of the flaws would be fixable and also someone had already done most of the interior. I believe it may have the original engine as well. If I decide not to fix it, is there a book or something that would be me a fair price that I could sell it for. Thank you.

If you are wondering about a book to have an idea on how to fix this suggests you are not going to make it come out too well as a first try - sorry if wrong on that.

64-65-66 (best of the three same basic car) are of interest. Heavy unit body cars, healthy strong engines and first great trans was in 66, all the C-6 automatics.

If not wildly serious and keeping it original trust me you'll lose your shirt restoring it unless a very nice rust free car just needing prettying up, and put in top mechanical shape. Convertible is always the attractive one of them as it goes totally into the truck out of sight all without leaving the driver's seat which was cool and folks will pay for those royally and any how well done. Top bucks always go to perfect originals not fixed up at all be just mothballed kept as new and they do exist - name your price on any but those are the $$. All others are to market like anything.

Try to know now what it's worth just they way it is. The nuts that will go nuts will pay well for whole cars for parts even especially hard is all the chrome trim, scripts, appliques, OE good whole interior or trim inside these as well, RUBBER for everything, vent windows, doors seals trunk is bucks up the butt if a buyer. This particular car door panel arm rests were all a problem early (I was there unfortunately when they were so good OE door panels are worth a ton right now.

Check out T-Bird clubs and parts AND prices for finished ones and ones for parts now should get you the idea on the current market in what kind of condition.

Did up several to 100% mechanically as new and let the paint and proper body work go out to the pros for the finish. None intended to be show cars but awesome looking drivers and got just OK bucks but if you counted time you better love it as you'd lose.

One more comment: You could make it worth less for trying so do the leg work or just chalk it up to fun and do whatever the heck you want,

T
