strut removal on 2000 bonneville Sign In

Hi, newb here so bear with me.
I'm trying to remove the passenger strut on a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville. I got the 2 nuts off the bottom bolts at the knuckle. Here is my problem: I can't get the bolts to slide out. I put the nuts back on a few threads and am hitting them with a hammer and having no luck. Anybody have any advice?
Thanks,
Nick

You just need a bigger hammer. They are splined into the hole.

Yea I got them like 5 mins after posting the question but my laptop died lol. Now I can't get the C.V. shaft out. I couldn't get it by using a prybar so I used a slide hammer. Now after using the slide hammer I seperated the shaft at the joint at the inside boot. I don't know what to do now since I had no luck with the prybar.

Well, if you had asked first we would have prevented that. You may have a problem if it dropped any needle bearings from the plunge joint. If that happend, just replace the axle.

As far as getting it out of the trans, a prybar is your only method. You need a real strong one and slip it under the housing a give it a real hard snap and it eventually pop out. Sometimes using 2 bars opposite of each other works better because it pulls straighter.

I was planning on replacing the c.v. shafts anyways. I already had the new ones sitting right there with me in the garage. I got both shafts out now. I had to use a bigger prybar and have my buddy vibrate it with my air hammer. I've got everything back together now and taking it down the road to have an alignment done (replaced the tie rods as well). Thanks for the help. I will be sure to return here next time I need help.
