You can usually access them with a 6 point socket and an extension long enough to reach past the back of the starter. Sometimes it's easier with an even longer one that reaches past the crossmember. I use an indexable head ratchet to go around the starter. Hammer has the easiest and cheapest way. Since most people have an extension and ratchet. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds

thanks hammer and thanks way2old I have been fighting it for hours with a long extension. tomorrow I will pick up a sorter one and make sure i have a six point socket. thank you

You will also find out that after it breaks loose, you can remove it with your fingers, That really P---es you off. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds

thanks for help ! hay when i put the starter back on i noticed a hole in the upper A frame and was able to stick a 1/4' extension with a 13mm and bolt through it at an angle to start the top bolt. dont no if that was made for it or not but it worked.
