I have a 1993 F250 with a 5.8 EFI and 115K on it Where on the timing tab do I read it most accureately? My Ford 5.8 has a tab (from left to right) that has a round port, a square edge, a 1-1.5" window and an angled edge.

OK: I'm better with the cars than trucks but this is essentially (should be) the same methods as the 5.0 (302) and a 5.8 (351) Windsor blocks. Pic may not show but there's a little tab that is to be removed, idle may drop some and no more automatic timing adjustment will happen just to set it. It's just a plastic plug thingy (nice techno word) and hook up light to #1 and read the marks on the harmonic balancer lightly etched into it with the pointer. I clean off the balancer with sandpaper so I can see it and the marks then paint with white touch up both correct marks to line up and see better with timing light. There was when new a sticker which was confusing to read how to do this and the spec which should be but go by the sticker 10 degrees before top dead center. Engine warmed up, turn to set to mark with distributor just loose enough to turn, check again after tightening up and plug thingy back in and you are done with that - no real tricks. See if pic shows?? Ignore the email address in that pic if it shows at all. That was just what images were out there in cyberspace, T
