LOCKING LUG NUTS Sign In

MY SON BOUGHT HIMSELF A 2003 GMC ENVOY WHICH CAME WITH SOME PRETTY NICE RIMS AND LOCKING LUG NUTS. THE PROBLEM IS THE THE KEY CONSIST OF TWO PARTS WHICH HAVE COME APART. I'VE TRIED WELDING IT TWICE BUT THERES APPARENTLY NOT ENOUGH SURFACE TO GET A GOOD BEAD ON OR I'M JUST A BAD WELDER. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Bring the old key to an auto parts store and try to match the pattern up. The other alternative is you can try to spin them off if you have an air chisel and a good sharp bit.

If you don’t care about saving the wheel lock; I’ve had good success using a tool by Snap On
Here’s a link to a page that shows the one that I use.
