My 2001 GMC sierra v8 has been stored/sitting for over a year (not
started at all). Is there anything I should/can do before starting or
ever to help/avoid dried/bad or leaky seals or any other problem that
may be from sitting to long??? Help!

IMO, short of pulling the engine and re-sealing it with all new gaskets and such, no, there's not a whole lot you need to do. Do an oil & filter change, fuel filter, get the acorns out of the air cleaner, check the coolant & the belts & hoses. Might be a real good time to change the belts & hoses. Belts have been stopped in one spot for over a year & the coolant has not moved either- still setting in the same low spot of the hoses. Not big on additives, just regular maintainence with the same viscosity oil it is used to. Should be o k. Let us know.

Check your brakes make sure you dont have any wheels locked up from rust that formed and stuck locked tight the pads up to the rotors it would also be a very good idea to drain the gas out of the tank and fill it with fresh new gas so you dont hurt or possibly foul up the injectores
