Hi,
Ii have problem with my chevy cruze 2011, my car just 37000km.
Before 2 weeks the care stop suddenly and it unable to move at D and even when i use manual not able to move but at R it move back normally. some people told me it need a new gear box which is around 4000$

yesterday when im look inferior to the car i see there is some fluid at the lower surface gear box. then i start the car and select the D and keep the RPM at 3.... suddenly the check engine light be on and the car start move but with no power and the manual transmission disappear i keep the car move till speed 30 or 40km the car became normal and it run smoothly without any problem and i can speed up to 120km without any problem but when i stop the car again can move without power till speed 30 or 40km.

so please what u think>>>> it need new gear box or sensors or what is the problem ???

This vehicle should be covered for drivetrain for 5 years, 50,000 miles or about 80,000 km. What transmission system had a "D" and is a manual transmission? One I don't know of possible for sure but warranty for major drivetrain should exceed what a regular
"bumper to bumper" warranty should. Read your papers on that,

Re: chevy cruze 2100 problem Sign In

Read your papers! Convert to kms as needed. This is near universal for all - check harder.

Copied from GM's own site about their warranty...................

****************
Warranty Coverage
Bumper-to-Bumper (including tires):
Coverage is for the first 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Powertrain:
Coverage is for the first 5 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

******************
YOU are talking about a "POWERTRAIN" issue so check!

Hello,
Sounds like the car is in failsafe, starting out in a higher gear. Hook up a scanner to see what codes you have. Gary

Re: chevy cruze 2100 problem Sign In

Hello,
The P0700 is a generic code, that should mean, there is a trouble code present in the TCM(Transmission Control Module), you would need a good scanner like a snap-on scanner, a regular "code reader" wont pick this code up.
To explain what "failsafe mode" is: Todays transmissions work with electricity(power or grounds from the computer) when the computer "see's" a problem it will cut off all eletricity to the transmission to try to keep it from futher damage. So say in 3rd gear the shift solenoids are off, that means when the computer cuts off power to the transmission it can only have 3rd in the drive range because the solenoids are off which require no power for 3rd gear. The fist thing you need to do is scan the transmission to see what code you have, for that you need a good scanner like snap-on. Gary

Hello,
I would not recommend driving the car in failsafe, the transmission will fail, to much stress on the clutch pack, I would get this thing scanned to get the code, it may be something simple. Gary

Re: chevy cruze 2100 problem Sign In

sound good, i will try to find some one do that snap-on check,

i dont know i hope it easy and u said may it simple (what are u think), because the cost or rebuilt is too much, but do u think it ok to change transmission fluid first because i dont know if how much amount of fluid in, and what the best way to change that fluid ??? i mean can i do at home or i should take it to mechanic.

Re: chevy cruze 2100 problem Sign In

Hello,
Not sure what trans you have in the car, do you know if its a 6 speed automatic? I would scan it first, changing fluid may not help and you would just be wasting money. If there is a chevy dealer where you are, you can call them give them your vin and they should be able to tell you what trans is in the car. Im assuming this car is not in th u.s. Gary

Re: chevy cruze 2100 problem Sign In

Ok, so im thinking the transmission may be a 6T40, front wheel drive 6 speed. This TCM or trans computer is located Inside the transmission. To futher confirm this trans, do you have a black plastic cover on this trans, would be close to radiator? gary

Re: chevy cruze 2100 problem Sign In

Ok, so i would venture to say, 6T40. Next step is to get it scanned for the code, and go from there. There maybe more than one code, so you need to have the TCM scanned. Gary

Re: chevy cruze 2100 problem Sign In

Its hard to say without a code. These have problems with output and input speed sensors, the tcm itself. These also have problems with 3-5 reverse drum. Gary

Just a thought here - have fluid levels been checked?

Re: chevy cruze 2100 problem Sign In

Hi today i make a new scan check

The erorr code is
P2723 pcs. Valve 5 stuck off

Also the amount of leakage of fluid increased and that fluid is dark balck one
The leakage area is between engin and gear

The mechanic told me the gear need rebuilt with new board which inside the gear box and the cost of overhall is up to 4000$

I dont know what can i do
Please any idea

Re: chevy cruze 2100 problem Sign In

Hello,
This code is a performance code or hydraulic, not eletrical. The TCM detects an incorrect on-coming clutch gear ratio or a slip. PCS 5 regulates the trans fluid pressure to the 1-2-3-4 clutch. With this perforance code pretty much means you have something going on inside the trans. Question, did the mechanic clear the code? If not get it cleared see how the car drives. Once the code is cleared it should come out of failsafe(it may go back in), but see how it drives. Gary

Re: chevy cruze 2100 problem Sign In

Mechanic told me ya he clear the code and the checkengin light off, BUT the car not able to move, so im try again to make RPM up to 2 and the car again going in that mood :(

What you think, do u think loss of fluid may lead to that???
