Subject: 1998 Silverado 5.0
2 Wheel Dr. has 1875 error code reads 4 wheel-drive low switch circuit malfunction!
I have had a transmission shifting problem, Sometimes, the transmission would only stay in drive and not shift from first second third automatically. Sometimes it will shift normally. This has been going on for 6 months.
I took it to have the transmission replaced and the transmission shop said there was nothing wrong
Mechanically,
Maybe this issue has something To do with 4 Wheel Dr. error code on my 2 Wheel Dr. vehicle. I would appreciate any help or any ideas you might have. Thanks

That was time stamped AFTER the question of what this is now is all confused what the heck this is. Is this truck altered or just a 2WD truck that shows errors for a 4WD that it NEVER had?
Please don't fix the mistakes, rather add a new post for Gary here (trans expert of the site) so he can advise it's too confused right now what it is,

Hello,
Ok, even though this is a 2WD, they are wired for 4WD, what is going on is the 4WD low wire is grounded somewhere, this can be confirmed looking at data on a scan tool, but the fix is to just cut the wire, has no use on 2WD, if you want to post your VIN number I may be able to pull a wiring diagram.
If you clear the code, does it come right back? Does it seem like the car is shifting early?

Yes when I clear the code, it comes back within The driving cycle
And yes the car shifts early often

And yes it seems to shift early often
Yes when you turn off the code it returns within a few miles of driving the vehicle, same code. Thanks again

Hello,
The computer should have 4 connectors plugged into the PCM, The transmission controls are usually in the C4 connector. working on wiring

Hello,
Ok, look at the C4 Connector, see on terminal #19 If there is a Black/white wire, that is the 4WD Low signal, to help I.D if there is a wire there, Terminal #18 is a Pink wire, Terminal #20 May be blank it doesn't show terminal 20 on the wiring diagram. Let me know what you find.
The 4WD low signal said 4WD only on the diagram, let me know if there is a wire there. Gary

Thanks Gary, I’m having a mechanic friend come look at it in a couple of days, based on your information I am not Comfortable, or experienced enough to Continue, from this point. I would like to keep this dialogue open Until after my mechanic friend Comes to help.

Good morning Gary, opened up C4 which is the black terminal, hard to find that information which color is C1C2C3&c4 just an FYI for us novice backyard mechanics definitely not a complaint.
19 is black and white, 18 is pink 20 as a white wire, could actually be yellow as I peel harness tape back
Thanks again I’m ready And excited and hopeful-for your next step almost 2 months of thinking around with this problem. Just a note watch some YouTube videos where they thanked you for your information at the end of the videos. Thought that was awesome

Just cut it 3 inches or so away from the connector just in case you have to reattach the wire. Gary

So I disconnected the battery which Means I’m going to have to drive for Cycle to see if cutting the black wire
Keeps a code from reoccurring, I’ll let you know after I drive it 30 miles or so!🤞🤞

When I’ve cleared it in the past it came back within 20 to 25 miles, I’ve only driven out about 5 miles since I cut the black wire, I am driving it tomorrow hoping engine light doesn’t come back
I’ll let you know tomorrow afternoon

29 miles today no engine light so far
Will drive it a few more miles and then head to the emissions. My fingers are crossed.
Big thanks, I do have another issue but I will address that after I pass emissions
