Transmission whine Sign In

2006 wrx 5speed
Anyone familiar enough with transmissions to help me diagnose a problem. I've got a whine in 2nd through 5th gear during acceleration only that's rpm related. It will quiet down when coasting but you can barely hear it. When I'm decelerating it sound like some rocks are getting chomped up. I have a feeling its bearings. But which ones. Trying to also figure out if it's worth just buying a used trans for a good price or just replacing the bearings.

We have a trans expert. His name is Gary and he will be along to answer this.
