Transmission interchange

Hello I have a 1997 Dodge ram 1500 4×4 .it has the 5.9l engine and is equipped with an automatic transmission that has stopped pulling .so my question is if I can't find the same transmission is there a different transmission from a different vehicle that I can make work

Different transmission................. no you can't but that same transmission may be used in multiple years. A junkyard will have an interchange book that will tell you exactly which years and models will fit. We don't have access to these books.
