I own a 1996 dodge dakota v6 mag, with a 5-speed manual tranmission. It's a great truck, but right now i am having problems with it. I don't know much about transmissions or stuff, so i would like some help. My shifter moves (kicks) to the right in 1st and 2nd gear when the rpms start to rise. I can't stop it from moving, so is it the gears too? Just the clutch? Any help would be great

Re: Shifter Movement Sign In

This could be bad motor mount(s) or trans mount(s) allowing too much motion. I think the shifter is directly into the transmission so it would move some normally and lots more if the trans/engine are tilting a bit too far.

Mounts may look good with vehicle at rest. Kinda needs to be looked at with vehicle under load while stationary. Hit back for a safe way to do that if you want to check that yourself if that sounds like a possibility,

Wink Hey thanks. I checked it out and thats what it was. Both the motor mounts and the trans mounts had to be replaced. They must've never been tight since i bought the truck, 'cause now it has a lot more torque in the lower gears.
