Semi-Automatic: Changing Shift Activation Sensors

I recently purchased my first road-going semi-automatic transmission vehicle (Cadillac CTS Coupe). Up until now, my only experience with clutchless transmission operation was in select opportunities driving a sequential gearbox race car (Porsche GT3). Historically, sequential gearbox levers have been set up with momentum in mind; push forward to downshift as you brake, pull back to upshift as you accelerate. GM, in all its finite wisdom, has done the exact opposite. I now find myself shifting in the wrong direction while I'm enjoying some "spirited" driving. My question is can you simply switch a few wires in the center console to change the shift up / shift down mechanisms to the other positions? Or are there multiple sensors, sensors within the gearbox, or some fancy computer hidden deep in the basement of GM headquarters that laughs at me every time I upshift into 6th gear for a 20-mph corner? Chris, Your talking about a direct shift gearbox(dsg) transmission?

What year and engine is this? Don't think you will find a DSG in the CTS. Probably means reversing the controls when you have the automatic's shifter in manual mode. I'm sure it could be done,but it would probably be easier for you to retrain your mind. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

It's one of those fancy manu-matic automatic transmissions with the "sport shift" lever to control gear changes manually. Not a DSG.

This is a 2012 CTS4 Coupe with the 3.6 V6. I would figure there has to be a position actuation switch on the "sport shift" side of the gear selector, so my hopes would be just to pop open the center trans tunnel cover and switch wires. I'm too old to retrain my brain. Old dogs / new tricks, you know?

Looking at the wiring diagram for the shifter swapping wires won't reverse the controls. The circuit in the shifter is designed almost like a multifunction wiper switch. The PCM is expecting to see a certain voltage drop depending on which switch is closed. I believe the only way to reverse the controls is to re-engineer the manual shifter PCB or change the software in the PCM. What about using shifter paddles on the steering wheel?
