Possible Tranny troubles Sign In

Hello,

I am currently driving (kind of) a 95 Pontiac Grand Prix SE ,
It recently started giving me trouble that has been described as "Probably the transmission" by a few people. Basically when in Drive I would need to use excessive rpms to get the car moving and keep it moving. The car is an automatic and has the standard Park,Reverse,Neutral,D,3,2,1 setup. When I put the car in reverse it works , Neutral works , 3 works (but requires around or over 4k rpm to get up to and stay at 50kmph) but the others show no response whatsoever. Someone recommended a transmission fix oil to see if that would help and it did (but only for a few minutes then everything went back to broken) The dipstick shows full fluid levels. Also the fluid does not appear burnt. The car has 254k/km on it currently.
Can anyone confirm that this is probably a transmission problem (and maybe give me an estimate of what it will cost to fix , as I am car illiterate).
-Thanks

If that's the kms on that trans it is about over by just the mileage. Overhauls will vary in price,
