Hello , this is a more general question to answer my fears , 5 minutes ago i was trying to park my car in this parking lot with really really slow speed that is suitable to park in , when i decided to stop the vehicle because of my ignorance i accidentally pressed the barking pedal and put the car in park at the same time , it made this crunching sound but stopped immediately, my question is , with this very low speed would it still result in breaking the park pin and bowl ?
If this helps , its a 2006 model toyota corola
Thank you

Your question is a little confusing. Are you stating you put the transmission into park while the vehicle was still moving? If so, there is probably no damage. The parking pawl tooth is designed to ratchet until the speed of the hub allows it to drop into a groove, which is usually a speed that doesn't cause damage. It is not like in the movies where the person slams it up into park at high speed and the wheels lock up or it blows the back of the transmission off. It's not something you want to make a habit of doing, of course.

I wouldn't think you were moving fast enough to do damage but if you did it should be pretty obvious that it wouldn't hold in park sometimes.
