HI I AS M HAVING AN ISSUE WITH MY 1999 Lexus . WHEN I FIRST SYART THE CAR IT SHIFTS INTO GEAR FINE AS IT GETS EARM IT STILL SHIFTS AND GOEZ INTO GEAR however the gear on the shifter and the gear on the dAshboard conflict

Is this to mean it still ends up driving OK just the indicator of which selection to drive is wrong? If so, probably not so much a transmission problem, rather where it turns at the transmission is worn, corroded or something heat bothers if still reading anything? Site has a specialist hope he's by soon if this is chronic to this. Noted that it's about 25 years old, maybe a little more wear takes a toll on lots of things, this included. If you can watch it with a helper shifting it see if anything is obvious, Tom

Thank You Yes that Is what I mean It works it is just the indicators ( gearshift ) and (Dashboard) read differently ! I do hope the expert you speak of can offer some insight as well [

Hello, On the outside of the Transmission there is a MLPS or Manual Lever Position Sensor or Neutral switch, there may be something wrong with that switch, the contacts inside the switch get corroded . Gary
