I moved this to the transmission category. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Hello, The transmission on this truck should be a 4R70W, what happens with this unit is the e clip that holds the overdrive piston together breaks, so it will neutral for that reason, when the clip breaks, you have to go into the valvebody and look at the overdrive regulator valve, the broken e-clip usually makes its way into that valve and jams the valve, so you can put a new piston in and still have the same problem. If you attempt to put a new piston in, you will have to hold the band in place, it drops out when the piston is removed. Gary
