Hi i have a 97 c1500 with a 4L60E trans and i though it was leaking from the pan but upon closer inspection, i realized its leaking from right above it. Looks like its right by the bottom 2 bolts for the front pump. The transmission was just rebuilt and i would take it back but its 4 hours away and im worried ill damage the trans if it leaks too much. Has anyone had any similar issues and solutions or tips?

It sounds like you have a front pump seal leaking. The trans will have to come out to repair that.

I'm NOT the site's transmission expert but just that it was just rebuilt it has to go back. Perhaps ask shop what to do or who pays to get it there?
You could check it any chance this has a transmission fluid cooler other than just at radiator if lines (any of them) are the cause.
How fast it leaks does matter you could be responsible for blowing it and lose the redo to fix it knowing it leaks.
Leaks (any) come from up high to low of course and can fool you. Once in a blue moon a leak with something with any pressure can make a fish line like spray and show away from what or where you see it. Still it would only be from item that have fluid in them.
It tough - that's a lot to tow on you or risk if you make a run for it 4 hours there and back AND a ride back and back again when said done.

Yea it sucks, guy above is right trannys gotta come out, the shop f-ed up. Just sucks its the only thing ive ever let someone else do to my truck and they screw it up. I really dont wanna drive it 8 hours for something that stupid but i guess theres no choice since if they screwed that up they need to make sure everything else is good too

Hammer Time made the prior post to yours.
Idea! How about get in touch with the place for practical ideas or the $$ to just take it out, put a new pump in. If 2WD that isn't all that hard and probably less $$ than all the fuel, time, screaming, foul language and more to go back twice.
I don't do this stuff it's too heavy and no help or equipped but have with some help. You can do just the seal on a lot of this stuff.
It's more though that may not fix it as what it seals to may be the reason?? It pumps and goes so pump works apparently.
Doesn't matter now but I think it wasn't lined up right for last bolt up it easily would damage a new seal. Oh yes, ones I did the torque converts snout (non mechanical term) is the seal has to be good.
Today rebuilds should be fully done up and usually nasty costly for good reasons too.
It's a rock and hard place they don't need this either so see if they'll pay a reasonable cost to redo it, not leak where you are. It you really are that far away from a competent shop for this, that too sucks, as you put it,

Hello,
Not common for the front seal to leak but common for the pump bushing to spin out, wonder if thats what happened. Gary
