I have a 2010 Kia Forte LX that needed an engine swap because the engine had a loud knocking noise. After a year, I finally found an engine for it. We did an engine swap, everything started running fine and smooth until we took it out for a test drive. At first, the car was shifting into 1st & 3rd gear only. You could only shift it back into 1st gear if you turned it off and on again. Prior to this, the transmission was totally fine because we drove the car with the knocking engine. We checked the transmission oil level, it was way above the HOT MARK on the stick, but we had the right amount of transmission oil, (7.6L). we used Dexron 3. I know the spec says diamond 3. After flushing the tranny oil, we put in 2L back in to see wtf is going on, the dipstick showed the oil level exactly at the HOT mark. No idea what is going on. we started the car again, but this time, it only shifts to 1st and 2nd Gear but no 3rd! any ideas?

The trans is going into limp mode for some reason and you will need a professional scan tool to access the TCM for stored codes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Not just dealerships. Most independents that do diagnostic work will have one but they cost in excess of $10K for a decent one.

I see. Any idea why the dipstick shows the fluid level at the 'hot mark' with 2L of oil when the car requires 7.5L? We did drain the torque converter and all

Not important right now. I'm moving this over to the trans section as we have a trans expert there but he will want the codes also.

Check the vacuum supply and the wiring to the MAP sensor. Is that a 2.0 or 2.4 engine? That is not a transmission code so did you scan the TCM or not? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

It is a 2.0. I did not scan it professionally. I did do a transmission scan on my OBD, which is a high-end one and does have a transmission scan option and it didn't give any error. I just don't have the extra cash to spend on it right now.
