OK, first off the title space is for the title. The body of the message belongs in the message area.

Your code reader may not find any codes but a professional scan tool can access other areas of the system and there likely will be codes if you haven't disconnected the battery or attempted to clear codes.

You're telling us that neither the dealer or a transmission shop have any idea what is wrong with this car or are they telling you that there is simply nothing wrong with it?

Did any of these places DRIVE this and feel this? If no codes it still leaves CV joints, any U-Joints also can make a "shudder" depending on how you interpret that description.
For that matter about anything that turns with the vehicle in motion plenty isn't going to be a code. Anything tires, wheel (is one or more lose?) things like that.
Treads of tires can shift. Brake parts drag or not release quite properly a long list. Takes some experience to zoom in on something you've (tech's in this case) have done the hunt for before go and check.
Most things wrong are load, steering, braking, acceleration you named a speed when this happens only is good but just what is it doing right then? Yes it would up-shift after 30 with zero load, low load again by 40ish or more if a load on it into locked drive.

Just thoughts on it. Suspect trans the first indication may or may not be showing is level is wrong and fluid color even an odor perhaps.
Taking a week and finding nothing just what did that tech or shop try to figure out? IDK nor do you. Once worked where a shop didn't want cars test driven by tech (me or others) just blindfolds something obvious if experiencing it. I quit that joint over it ticked off customers NOT finding reasons!

ford dealer probably didn't drive car,all they did was check the engine cylinders. as for the other two trans shops, both say they drove car but it didn't do anything with them. as I said, this problem is very intermitten. but it sure feels like a trans problem. wife says sometimes in rush hour traffic it wont come out of first gear. im baffled to say the least.

OK, it's going to play "Hide and Seek" games like that with no codes or more than your complain of it I suggest finding a tech who if both of you are up to it drive it as their commute for a couple days if need be if just to nail down area of what's up with this.
Stuck in low (first) is a pretty clear problem so I'm just asking if your wife's description that's what it really did. Please I don't mean that people (any flavor) can't be savvy to car issues some just don't know what's going on at all which is just fine if you know it.

If credible and it was in drive stuck in low when IT NORMALLY WOULD HAVE UPSHIFTED now you've got something to go on. Trans specialists should be asked again look up any pattern failures of the exact vehicle if any changes were made for the problem from new.

It does take some work just finding out your exact one, engine, trans precisely to find info if any. Now suggest just because check color of trans fluid with drops on white paper and compare that to what it should look like. If odor is present also note that. color and if it's clear and like what will help.
About now wonder if it's just plain low? If so next is where did it go? Don't stop with it just filled up properly checked mind you.
Trust me "intermittent" problems that simply DO NOT misbehave are a nightmare to find unless it was a case of "They all do that" type thing and I don't believe that,

Your not shifting comment points to a trans issue so I'm moving this question to the transmission category so out tranny expert (gsferraro) will see it.

Hello,
This trans is a 6 speed unit called 6F50N. with no cods present, it's very hard to get a direction. As far as the vibration, when you feel it, if you lift your foot of the gas pedal is it still there? I'm thinking maybe TCC shudder, lock-up is commanded on around 30 MPH. When you feel the shifting issues, the input and output speed sensors on this trans have a high failure rate, these sensors are internal to the trans, most of the time it may set a code but i did have a few where i found them faulty with my scope.
