2007 Chrysler pacifica. 2wd.3.5L v6 bout 140k. My car is high idling and hunting. When I put it in gear it goes in hard and then the speedo starts surging with the rpms while I'm sitting still with my foot on the brake while accelerating the trans shifts smooth but after coming to a stop it will go in and out of gear on it's own hard and high idle. However this morning after coming to a stop it would not shift just stayed in one gear. I think it was first. Could only go 25 mph. No lack of power just didn't want to over rev the engine. This problem did happen a couple weeks ago as well when I turned on the a/c. But then operated normally as long as I didn't use the a/c until this morning. It is full of fluid and doesn't smell or look burnt. Could this be a trans shift controller or a throttle position sensor? A check engine light came on this morning as well.

I strongly suggest that you change your user name before the spammers get it. I'm also moving this to the transmission category where you may get a better answer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
