In my 1996 Camry SV40, I can change gears quickly without any trouble. But if I keep the clutch pedal pressed (e.g. when reversing slowly, or even waiting for green lights), it reengages gradually, making the engine stop or car move. When it reengages I can't change gears or shift to neutral even with the clutch fully pressed. Once I release the clutch pedal and press it back, it disengages. I changed a slipping clutch plate about two years back since when I have driven around 1000 miles. I did not replace the pressure plate.

You have either a clutch slave cylinder leaking or a Clutch master bypassing. If you're not losing fluid, it's likely the master. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
