I own an 05 silverado 1500 automatic. The 3 and 4 clutch continue to burn out. 3.4 clutch replaced and the epc. Third time they burnt out again. What would cause them to burn out other than the epc? He tells me maybe the comp is fouling up and leaving low pressure and there's a kit to bypass this problem. Both times it was fixed lasted me about a day before it happened again.

Hello, Im assuming this trans is a 4L60E. Your problem is the input drum 04and 05 big problem years, either the input shaft is not seated proerly or i also believe the drum my devlope cracks where it presses into the shaft(ive been there already). that drum should have the load release springs are you putting those back? Drum was replaced as far as the springs I'm learning they should stay out. I'm meeting with him in the morning. I've seen other posts about these springs not going back in. He seems confident that there's some sort of pressure problem. He been really cool about all of this but he seems stumped. As am I. These transmissions aren't that difficult but this problem is really breaking me down. Three times now 3 and 4 have burnt out

was the drum new or used? you can leave out the springs,(on the earlier model transmissions, a hole had to be drilled in the valvebody plate if the springs were left out) im honestly not sure if the same has to be done with the later models. Did you change the valvebody plate? they always get beat up. Gary

Bought the truck used from dealer drove it for 3 yrs no problem. Plate is Transco so we're guessing it's been worked on before. We didn't replace plate. Trans passed pressure check. Something he's talking about is a kit to bypass computer pressure using power steering if I'm not mistaken. Drum was new drum.

Never heard of that setup. one other thing to check is your stator bushings on your pump, the lower one wears and allows crossleaks. When you said it passed the pressure test, did you let the truck get hot to see if your line pressure dropped, and was the needle steady on the gauge? transgo plate is good. Gary
