Sign In I've got this 05 Neon. It was my daughters car, it's been sitting for a few years and now it is going to my grandson. We cleaned it up and I drove it for a bit an noticed its popped out of 5th gear. My daughter said it actually started doing that for her a little bit before she bought her new car. It's been ages since I've been into a manual tranny and the few I did work on were all RWD. So I'm going to change out the fluid and check shifter cables and engine mounts. Any other suggestions short of pulling the tranny apart would be appreciated.... It will keep him off his cell phone hanging on to the thing :-) IDK like you ancient times there were "detent" things about like that ring that holds sockets or air tools I think. Gary will know for sure but you know it's coming out GRAMPS - that or a bungee cord rig I know plenty who wouldn't mind a bit. It was actually a $400 car I picked up 6 years ago from the tow yard next to the shop I worked at for my daughter. They gotta a call from the local pd cuz it had been sitting on the street for too long. The guy had been trying to get it started for so long and was so frustrated with it, he walk into the shop and gave them the title and keys to the and said he was tired of it and didn't want it anymore. That shop only auctions off the running ones, they scrap the non-runners. The problem...... He didn't have a chipped key for it.
