? This is to say it doesn't hold in Park either? A half shaft driveshaft may have let go if not holding and still being turned by trans and not the trans at all, T

Was the axle fully seated when the trans went back in? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I would check the axles as well, does this car hold in park or roll? Gary

Question, When you go from drive to park it makes a ratching sound, and if you pull it back down to drive the noise goes away? Gary

Ok, if thats what happening and your axles are in, then your differential or possibly your planetary gearset is blown. On front wheel drive cars the diff is located inside the trans. Shut the engine off and put the car in park and see if it holds. Gary

It seems that something is turning that shouldnt be, thats why it ratchets when you go for park. Gary

Another words if your cv axles are good and fully inserted into the transaxle, the transaxle is going to be coming back apart. I don't understand why someone would rebuild a transmission and not replace the torque converter, but still have the same problem before the transaxle was overhauled. You never answered what they found when they had the transmission apart. This thread is full of questions being asked and vague answers. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
